Favorites Spots

We have finally figured out two of our favorite restaurants that we will revisit time and time again!

The first is an Indian restaurant only a 10 minute walk from our house.  I had only had Indian food once before back at home and didn't like it! But Kelly really wanted to try this place while Seth was in class so her, Marley, and I gave it a try.  We got chicken Marsala, vegetable curry, and two giant things of garlic Nan bread.  Although it was a little spicy (and we only got 2 stars out of 5!!) it was one of our favorite things so far!  It was completely comfort kind of food that warmed you and made you happy.  Marley liked the chicken and the Nan bread, the vegetable curry was a little too spicy for him.  But he loved the bread.  He kept picking off pieces of garlic and asking what it was before shoving it in my mouth.  Oh the games we play to keep him entertained at a restaurant!
The waitress and cook at the restaurant were Indian and loved Marley.  She sat a an end table and watched him the whole meal.  The cook would occasionally poke his head out to watch him as well.  We decided this will definitely be one of our regular spots for dinner!

Our second favorite restaurant we found last week and went again tonight.  Last year there was an exchange student at Western Washington University from Tsuda college.  Kelly and Seth met Kei, a graduate student studying math, and asked her many of the questions they had.  She has since moved home and resumed her education at Tsuda.  So last Friday we met at the house and all went out to dinner.  We took a train to the local bigger train station, Kokubunji, to find a place to eat.  Seth asked her if she knew of any places around the station that we should try.  Its funny when people are trying to speak English they say a lot of maybes.  Even if they are sure of the answer the start the sentence with maybe.  So as we are standing outside the train station she looks around and then back at them and says "um maybe I know places to drink", it was so funny! She starts laughing and Kelly and Seth said they'd rock paper scissors for who takes Marley and the other would go with Kei and me to drink haha But we found a place that looked decent.  It was right next door to an All American restaurant:

Dennys anyone??

This place ended up being really good! When we went tonight we ended up getting two of the sweet and sour ish type chicken dish that comes with vegetables and rice.  This was by far our favorite and so good!!  And then tried a panko chicken dish with rice.  That was good too.  It also came with cold udon noodles that were so-so.  Udon is much better hot, but Marley ate the noodles like they were candy!  He was slurping one up after another!

We've noticed that many of the dishes here are more neutral and bland compared to what we are used to back home.  We find ourselves adding spices or seasonings on the table to the nioodle dishes we get.

Its a close call but I think the Indian restaurant is my favorite so far!
